The Power of Creativity

Attention: never underestimate your ability to be a genuine, passionate, creative person AND be fulfilled psychologically, personally and even financially while you’re doing it. If you have an idea for something cool; get at it. Do what you have to do to make it happen.

I saw a video today promoting Macklemore’s new record “The Heist.” In it he explains how music used to be something that came in a package. A thing you could pick up and open and experience through a booklet and art. He was inspired to do something special to give that feeling back to us. Watch the video here:

The gator-skin package, the gold foil, pieces done by all kinds of artists for each song; there is something gorgeous about this product that people took for granted before we moved to the world of iTunes and torrents.

Now check the comments:

The time put into this project is so clear that I want to buy it just to say THANK YOU! And if other people feel the same (which they clearly do) Macklemore will be selling a lot of records.

This is how powerful creativity can be. Even in a seemingly dead industry; effort and passion can birth a product that people are genuinely excited about and also willing to spend lots of money on.
